Exam & Cleanings

Cleaning and examinations are some of the most important services you can have performed at the dentist. During a professional cleaning, we will brush, floss, and polish your teeth to ensure they are sparkling clean. We will also use special tools to remove plaque and tartar from hard-to-reach areas in your mouth.

As a part of this appointment, we will conduct a full examination of your teeth, gums, and all oral tissues. This will be performed visually and by x-ray. Examinations are important because they allow us to catch problems early.

We recommend that you visit us for an exam and cleaning every six months.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Our oral cancer screenings are performed as a part of every visit to our office. This screening will include a close examination of your mouth, throat, neck, gums, and facial tissues. Signs of oral cancer include:

  • Red or white patches on the gums
  • Persistent ulcers that don’t go away
  • Facial swelling or tenderness
  • Abnormal lumps in the neck or gum tissue

By regularly conducting these screenings, we are able to keep you safe from the progression or oral cancer.

Fluoride

Our office provides fluoride treatments for you and your children to protect your smiles against tooth decay. Fluoride is a natural mineral found in most dental products; it’s even found in water!

When utilized in the correct proportions, fluoride is a great asset to the health of your smile. Fluoride can be applied topically, as a mouth rinse, or toothpaste to reduce teeth sensitivity and strengthen your enamel.

Sealants

Sealants are plastic coatings that are painted onto the surfaces of teeth in order to protect these areas from tooth decay. While this is most often used for children while they are first learning the proper brushing technique, it is also a great service to provide patients with deep pits on the surface of their molars. Once applied and dried, sealants can last up to nine years.

Crowns & Bridges

Crowns and bridges are utilized to restore the appearance and function of a damaged smile. When you suffer from severe tooth decay or injury, a dental crown is often utilized to protect the damaged tooth and restore its appearance.

A bridge is a prosthetic appliance used to span the gap of one or more missing teeth. The dental bridge is made from three or more dental crowns that have been fused together. The appliance is fixed into place by being cemented over the top of neighboring teeth on either side of the smile gap.

Fillings

Minor tooth damage such as developing cavities, chips, or cracks can be treated by a filling. Once our dentist removes decay from the tooth, the area is filled in by a tooth-colored composite substance. The composite is smoothed out in order to blend into the tooth and cured under an LED light.

Once this is completed, we will check your bite and perform any touch ups as needed. Fillings are able to conceal smile damage while maintaining the function, health, and beauty of your natural tooth.

Dentures (Partial & Full)

Dentures are a great solution for replacing missing teeth. Our practice offers full dentures to replace an entire arch of lost teeth and partial dentures to replace one or more missing teeth.

  • Full dentures are typically secured into place by suction or dental adhesive. They must be removed and cleaned each night and your gum tissue must be brushed to prevent gum disease,
  • Partial dentures are held into place by being clipped onto neighboring teeth; they may also use suction depending on the design or shape. Like full dentures, this appliance must be removed and cleaned every night.

Tooth Extractions

We do everything we can to save your natural teeth, but in some situations, it is healthier for them to be removed. This includes teeth that are:

  • Overcrowded
  • Impacted
  • Severely decayed
  • Critically damaged

We will gently and carefully extract these teeth by rocking them back and forth until they are loosened from their supporting ligaments. From there, the tooth will be extracted from the socket.

Impacted teeth, such as wisdom teeth, will require surgery to be removed. Please navigate to our wisdom tooth extraction page to learn more about this procedure.
